13-year-old Vaibhav gets a team in IPL, setting a record

When many of the world’s top cricketers did not get a team, no one bought them in the IPL auction, then Rajasthan Royals included 13-year-old cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the squad. Through this, this young Indian left-handed batter created a rare record. Rajasthan Royals bought him for 1 crore 10 lakh rupees after fighting with Delhi Capitals.

Vaibhav, 13 years and 243 days old, created history in the two-day mega auction of the IPL in Jeddah on Monday (November 25). He is now the youngest cricketer to get a team in the world’s most popular franchise-based T20 competition. His base price was 30 lakhs. There was a great fight between Delhi and Rajasthan to get him. Finally, Rajasthan brought him to the team for more than a crore rupees.

However, the talk about Vaibhav in the cricket world started much earlier. He made his debut in first-class cricket in a match against Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy for Bihar in Patna last January. At that time, the Bihar Cricket Association had stated that Vaibhav’s official age was 12 years and 284 days.

However, Vaibhav has already given an eye-catching performance at the age-based level. Last October, he scored a century in the Youth Test against the Australia Under-19 team in Chennai for the India Under-19 team. He was 13 years and 188 days old that day. In this, Vaibhav set a record for the youngest century in competitive cricket.

Not only that, Vaibhav’s century was the second fastest in the history of Youth Tests. He tasted the century in just 58 balls after hitting a flurry of boundaries. The record for the fastest century is held by Moeen Ali. The former English all-rounder’s century for the Under-19 team in 2005 came in 56 balls.
