Guardiola to sign one-year contract extension at Manchester City
According to numerous rumors in the British media, Pep Guardiola has agreed to a contract extension to remain at Manchester City for at least one more season.
Since joining the team in 2016, the City manager, whose contract was set to expire at the conclusion of this season, has presided over an era of unparalleled dominance. In just seven years, City has won six Premier League championships and earned its first Champions League berth.
City has not responded to multiple rumors that the 53-year-old would stay for a tenth season, with a one-year option included in the contract. During the November international break, Guardiola also signed the two contract extensions he had previously received at City.
City became the first team to win four consecutive English league titles under the Catalan coach. Additionally, he guided City to the treble in 2023, emulating Manchester United’s 1999 feat of winning the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup in a single season. In the same year, the team won both the FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup.
The Spaniard won three league titles while managing German powerhouse Bayern Munich for three years after managing his childhood club Barcelona from 2008 to 2012.
Before joining City, who are presently in second place in the Premier League, five points behind Liverpool after 11 games, he won titles at each club.
