Fans demand IPL boycott over Shakib-Mustafiz not being included in team

The 18th edition of the IPL will be held in March next year. Earlier, the IPL mega auction was held in Jeddah, the second largest city in Saudi Arabia. Where two star cricketers of Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman, did not get a team. As a result, fans called for a boycott of the IPL.

On Monday (November 25), Shakib and Mustafizur’s names were mentioned on the second day of the auction. But no franchise showed interest in taking them to the team.

Their fans did not take it lightly that the two best star cricketers of the country did not get a team. After that, Bangladeshi fans started criticizing the IPL teams on social media. Their fans have announced that they will not watch this year’s IPL.

Shakib started his IPL career in 2011. He played a big role in making Kolkata the champion in the next edition. After that, this star cricketer became a regular in the IPL. At that time, Bangladeshi viewers watched the IPL to support Shakib.

Meanwhile, in 2016, cutter master Mustafizur Rahman signed up for the IPL. After that, Tiger fans divided into two groups and supported these two cricketers. Even though Shakib did not play for two seasons, Mustafiz became a regular in the tournament by playing well.

A total of 12 cricketers were registered from Bangladesh in the mega auction of the 18th season. Along with Shakib and Mustafiz, Taskin Ahmed, Towhid Hridoy, Mehedi Miraj, Nahid Rana, Rishad Hossain, Shariful Islam, Hasan Mahmud Tanjim Hasan, Sheikh Mahedi and Liton Das were also included.

Even though the rest did not get a team, everyone had their eyes on Shakib and Mustafiz. Because both of them have experience playing in the tournament. But neither of them got a team.

Since Shakib was number 439 in the auction list, his fans waited for a long time. But in the end, they were disappointed. It is far from knowing whether the teams have it, when the number of the world’s best all-rounder came, the host ignored it.

Although there were problems with the NOC of the cricketers in the previous seasons, this time two days before the auction, the BCB announced that the cricketers would get the opportunity to play in the IPL. Among the Bangladeshi cricketers, only Mustafiz and Rishad were named in the auction. But no team showed interest in them.
