Fire breaks out at packaging factory in Gazipur
A fire broke out at a packaging factory in the Adhepasha area of Basan police station in Gazipur city.
The fire broke out at the factory named Interpack Limited Packaging at around 1:30 am on Tuesday (November 19).
After receiving the information, three units of the fire service tried to control the fire for about 4 hours. Senior Station Officer of Bhogra Fire Service Iqbal Hasan confirmed the matter.
According to the fire service and local sources, various types of printing and cutting were done at the factory. Suddenly, at around 1:30 am, a spark in a transformer on an electric pole adjacent to the factory started the fire. Later, the fire quickly spread to the paper inside the factory. From there, the fire spread to the entire factory. At first, the locals tried to put out the fire. Later, when the fire service was informed, three units of the fire service tried to put out the fire for 4 hours.
All the goods manufactured by the factory, including machinery, paper boards, liners and medium paper rolls, were completely burnt in the fire.
The factory’s general manager, Kazi Firoz Ahmed, said that the factory had a large amount of manufactured goods, which were supposed to be delivered on Wednesday. In addition, there were valuable paper boards, rolls of liner paper and medium paper, and valuable machinery for printing. Everything was burnt in the fire. He claimed that the factory suffered a loss of about 25 million taka in the fire.
