Imran Khan granted bail, release order not met
Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party and former prime minister of Pakistan, has been granted bail by the Islamabad High Court. The order was issued during the corruption case hearing in Toshakhana. However, because he is still awaiting bail in other instances that are still pending against him, the government has stated that it is not viable to release him. According to the Dawn.
Imran Khan was given bail in the court of Justice Mayyangul Hassan Aurangzeb on Wednesday, November 20, after nearly a month had passed. Nevertheless, it remains uncertain if the former prime minister will be freed. because he is still the target of numerous other charges, including those involving terrorism and corruption.
Imran Khan has spent more than a year in the garrison city of Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail. Bushra Bibi, his wife, was also detained in the same prison. On October 24, Bushra Bibi was freed on bond following nearly nine months.
In an iddat (marriage) case, Imran and his wife Bushra Bibi were found not guilty on July 13. However, they were taken into custody in a fresh Toshakhana case that same day. In this instance, Bushra Bibi was granted bail by the Islamabad High Court last month. After that, she was let out of prison.
Imran Khan has been the subject of 62 charges in Islamabad, according to the police. In the meantime, a Punjab government attorney stated that Imran Khan is the target of 54 cases in Punjab.
