Israeli attacks kill an average of 3 children a day in Lebanon: UNICEF
More than 200 children have been killed in Israeli attacks in Lebanon since the war between Israel and Hezbollah began nearly two months ago. In addition, more than 1,330 children have been injured in the war. According to UNICEF, an average of 3 children have been killed in Israeli attacks in Lebanon every day since Israel intensified its attacks on the country. The Turkish news agency Anadolu Agency reported this information in a report on Tuesday (November 20).
The report said that these data were given by the United Nations children’s agency UNICEF at a press conference in Geneva. The agency’s spokesman James Elder said that despite the fact that more than 200 children have been killed in Lebanon, there is no significant initiative to stop the violence. Many children have been injured and traumatized.
He said that despite concerns that the situation of children in Lebanon is as dire as in Gaza, the authorities are failing to respond in a meaningful way. For children in Lebanon, silence has become a horrific normalization.
He listed Israeli attacks on Lebanon in the past 10 days, most of which have killed children with their families. The UN official noted a “chilling similarity” between what is happening to children in Lebanon and what is happening to children in Gaza.
