The deadly attack on Gaza by Tel Aviv came a day after a ceasefire between the Iranian-backed Lebanese militant group Hezbollah and Israel. Meanwhile, the ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel has come into effect, prompting many Palestinians to hope that a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel will be reached and that the more than year-long conflict in Gaza will end.

On October 7 last year, the Palestinian independence movement Hamas launched a historic offensive in southern Israel. Israel then launched a devastating offensive on Gaza in retaliation, which has been ongoing for more than a year. It has displaced 2.3 million people in Gaza.

Amal Abu Hameed, a woman displaced from Gaza, said, “I hope there will be a ceasefire in Gaza like in Lebanon. Because I want to show my children my land, I want to show them my home. I want to show them what Israel has done to us. We want to live in safety.”
