Israeli brutality continues in Gaza despite ceasefire agreement

Despite the announcement of the ceasefire agreement, Israeli aggression continues in Gaza. At least 40 more Palestinians have lost their lives in the Israeli aggression in just a few hours since the announcement on Wednesday (January 15).

The most severe attack took place in the Redwan area. 20 people were killed there alone. A terrible attack is also taking place in the Kizan Rashwan area of Khan Yunis. Two deaths have been confirmed. It is feared that the death toll will increase.

Netanyahu’s forces have been on the offensive for 15 months since Hamas’ unprecedented attack on Israel in October 2023. According to the Hamas-controlled Ministry of Health, 46,700 Palestinians have been killed so far, and more than 110,000 have been injured.

Three countries—Qatar, Egypt and the United States—are mediating the ceasefire decision. Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani confirmed the ceasefire decision at a press conference in Doha on Wednesday night. The Qatari prime minister said the ceasefire agreement in Gaza will take effect on Sunday, January 19.

Under the agreement, Hamas will release 33 Israeli prisoners in the first phase, including all women, children and men over the age of 50.
