World's 'largest' gold mine discovered in China

The world’s largest gold mine has been discovered in China’s Hunan Province. Researchers initially estimate that the mine contains more than 1,000 tons of gold.

The Hunan Geological Bureau said that the value of the gold mine recently discovered in the province’s northeastern Pingjiang County is estimated at 600 billion yuan. Among the previously discovered mines, the highest gold was found in South Africa’s South Deep Mine, with 930 tons.

Chen Rulin, an expert with the China Geological Bureau, told state news agency Xinhua that they found gold in many places during the excavation.

The companies involved in the excavation said that 40 gold veins or layers of gold ore were found at a depth of 2,000 meters in the mine. There are about 30 tons of gold stored there. The use of 3D technology showed that there is a large amount of gold at a depth of 3,000 meters. The discovery will have a major impact on China’s gold sector, as well as further boosting the country’s mining and economic capabilities.
